Are You a Snow Lover?

Outside through my front window 14 March 2017

4.30 AM 14 March 2017

3.30 AM Tuesday 14. I know I should be sleeping and not checking the headlines on my laptop which are screaming: Blizzard Warnings Issued as Winter Storm Stella Gears Up to Deliver More Than a Foot of Snow to a Widespread Swath of the Northeast. I know people who live in the mountain regions that will laugh at a foot of snow.

This is what I call 'Snowed in' Upper State New York

Is this my worse nightmare? Yes!
More Headlines:
• New York City may get up to 17 inches of snow.

Roads were covered in snow at Astor Place in Manhattan as the blizzard gathered momentum in the early hours of this morning

Snow was already beginning to accumulate in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Manhattan. This was the scene at Cooper Square as the blizzard swept in

• Officials declared states of emergency in New York and New York City starting at midnight Monday. A decision on whether to declare a travel ban in the city has not been made.

• Looking for something to do while you’re snowed in? The New York Times paper has you covered.

Really! Are you kidding me? I have tons of things I can do with or without the snowstorm, first it's coffee time and YES! I know it's 4.30 AM

How Do You Get A Stiff Neck In New York

There are many ways to get a stiff neck, and yesterday (September 15) I found a new one. I had a beautiful day out with my camera visiting the One World Trade Center, which is located in Downtown, in The Wall Street area. On my next visit, I promise to take even more pictures - this time, from One World Observatory, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere. While snapping away at the panoramic view of the Manhattan skyline, at least I won't have to look up.

What's your favorite spot in New York? Let me know, and I'll make sure to post the selected images on this blog in the near future. - M

Dirty Dancing - The English Way

Boomps-A-Daisy Video
The other day I was watching the rain run down the window of my office, and some of my childhood memories came rushing down to the times when I use to gaze outside my own bedroom's window, on an often rainy day in England. This was of course before we had television.
A television set, circa 1950s.

I can't stand the rain against my window

This was when I was a small boy. and my family use to invite our friends to the house over the holidays. Back in those days, we had no TV, and therefore, we entertained ourselves by dancing to the 1930s' Boomps-A-Daisy.

Do you remember that dance? Back in those days, dancing to the Boomps-A-Daisy was considered improper. As children, we had so much fun dancing to it though! It amazes me how a silly little dance could bring such enjoyment to everyone. We always ended up laughing on the floor at the end of each dance! Oh how times have changed.
