Autumn in Asheville

Bull Creek Valley: Jeff and I enjoying the autumn sun

Lately, the only way I can get away from the freezing weather is by day dreaming, and reminiscing on October of last year, when my wife and I stayed with one of our friends (yes I do have one) at his mountaintop home in Asheville, North Carolina. Our friend Jeff moved to Asheville after years of living in the big apple, and by doing so, he missed all the lovely snow storms, and freezing weather that we've been experiencing all winter long.

Our timing for the trip in October could not have been better, because this part of the world is exceptionally beautiful around that time of year. Fall time in Asheville means spectacular weather, and a peak time for some of the most colorful foliage.

All smiles: Jeff enjoys showing us around downtown Asheville
On top of the world, and enjoying the view as well

Frozen ghost: A reminder of the cold winter in the east side. The front of a Jeep left behind is now an ice sculpture in the parking lot of a medical center near Greenville, North Carolina, this past Tuesday
My wife Vyna gazing at the beautiful sunset - perfect view from Jeff's balcony

What a view: First day at the house, and already we can't  get over this breathtaking sight. Can we stay?

The Biltmore Estate is one, if not the star attraction in Asheville, North Carolina. Home to the former Vanderbilt Family.
Autumn in Asheville, North Carolina: The scenic Blue Ridge Parkway runs through the area and near the Biltmore Estate which we visited. Jeff’s house is situated on top of one of the mountains, and as you can see, the view is absolutely amazing
A balcony with a view: This picture was taken on our last day in Asheville.
We're still daydreaming

As I'm sitting here writing this post, I've forgotten what the warm weather feels like.  It seems so long ago. Climate change is the buzz word lately, and that topic has added an entirely new dimension to the unusual weather we've been experiencing. In the media, angry debates can bring that conversation to an abrupt halt. The same goes for this post. By the way, who said the world is getting warmer?

PS: Friday, February 20 - Our kitchen felt a little colder so I checked the weather. I wasn't surprised when I saw that the NYC temperature had dropped to 1F during the night! That my friend was the lowest temperature in over 60 years.

No doubt our friend Jeff isn't missing the freezing weather in a place where he once called home.
