Are you ready for the big freeze?

Even the New York Harbor froze over in the horrific chill

This is the coldest day of my life. I will never forget 16th February 2015.

I remembered the winter of January/February 1963 (Yes, I was there!) when I was living in Berkshire near Windsor Castle UK, and the temperatures dropped as low as minus 22.2C minus 8F to my New York friends. January/February that year was the coldest month since 1814. There was snow everywhere, it was unremittingly cold.

Most of England and Wales had a blanket of snow right through the month

Not very fashionable: Even the attendees of New York Fashion Week were forced to cover their haute attire with heavy coats to guard against the cold

Frozen over: The East River in New York was clogged with massive ice flows on Sunday as temperatures plummeted into the single digits

Today is a holiday so please stay warm and stay in.
