Will You Support a Hungry Kid?

The No Kid Hungry Charity: This Is Where Hunger Ends And Hope Begins
Make a difference, and support this wonderful children charity. They rely on you!

Yes! Vegetables Can Taste Good

I recently received a press release in which the subject matter was something close to my heart. It announced the following news: "San Jose's ADEGA Restaurant is hosting San Jose's first Michelin All-Star experience - featuring a line-up of Michelin starred Portuguese chefs from four of the world’s Michelin starred Portuguese restaurants - September 13 and 14 (media dinner on the 12th!). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to No Kid Hungry California. Tickets for this event will go on sale August 4th".

The Nokidhungry.org charity is an organization I can easily relate with because during World War II Britain introduced food rationing. Rationing; what is that, you may ask? It is the restriction of sale and purchase of certain foods which was recorded on the families "Ration Book" even the kids chocolate and sweets were rationed (12oz for a whole month), no wonder I eat chocolate 'like there is no tomorrow'. Thankfully, the rationing ended in 1954.

Would you believe it? Their sweets had to last a whole month back in the days when rationing was in effect.
These children use to spent hours choosing their sweets. Sort of like how the French make restaurant choices during their lunch hour.
Horse flesh meat? A REAL challenge for all chefs worldwide

Children received 'free school milk' until Mrs. Margaret Thatcher removed the program in order to have her government save some money. That move earned her the nickname, Milk Snatcher, which haunted her throughout her career.
It takes a cold heart to take their milk away, like the Milk Snatcher did. Children shouldn't be without food. No one should, for that matter.

No Kid Hungry is a great charity I relate to. Growing up in the UK, I've experienced hunger because of the rationing program. Thankfully, that program ended in 1954.

Definitely not a good idea to take milk from the kids. By doing so, Mrs. Thatcher didn't boost her popularity with the British people.

Living in the United States of America is somewhat of a blessings. We have so much to be thankful for, and opening up our purses and wallets to support No Kid Hungry, is something that this blog, My New York Dairy, will always encourage. This is a great charity that involves children. I was encouraged to see these fantastic Portuguese Michelin Chefs working hard towards No Kid Hungry. Well Done!

Last thoughts: What greater gift can you give than putting food on the table of a hungry kid.
