The Storm That Stopped New York

A familiar sight over the weekend: Friends bracing the weather to be part of a record breaking snowstorm.

An Epic Storm

New York residents who made the most of a paralyzing weekend blizzard faced fresh challenges as the workweek begins: slippery roads, spotty transit service and mounds of snow that buried cars and blocked sidewalk entrances. The storm (or the Blizzard of 2016) dropped an incredible amount of snow from the Gulf Coast to New England, with near-record snowfalls tallied from Washington, D.C. to New York City.

The perfect storm: Okay... Which way is out?

You may be wondering, how did New Yorkers cope? On the whole, the folks here did a great job. The storm (or blizzard, as it is sometimes referred to) did however have some interesting side effects.

"Can you believe it they cancelled my flight?!"

Global Warming? Ha! There's no such thing as global warming. Lol.

An unexpected site: New York City was as silent as the grave over the weekend..
Well, almost.

As a city New York has been there, seen it and done it all but this storm stopped New York in its tracks. This was certainly one for the books.

A City That Never Sleeps without coffee?

Even Starbucks was closed in Times Square. “OMG!” said one New Yorker “what am I to do?” For starters, why don't you call your attorney?

Yes. Your car is parked under all that snow.

New Yorkers Brave Slush and Ice

All theaters were closed over the weekend, except SNL. The "venerable" institution was the only one brave enough to put on a show for its loyal fans.

Moment of silence: A rare sight in a city that never sleeps.

Mother nature silenced New York City. I never thought I'd see the day when NYC would be silenced. Check my post on: How To Live In A Noisy City.
